“Restoration often requires innovation—a new way of looking at something old or traditional. Here I have chosen to represent only part of a traditional Amish Diamond in a Square quilt, combining traditional hand quilting with modern colors and design.”
The artist has created a slice of traditional patchwork in non-traditional colors. Based on a traditional Amish “Square within a Square” the artist has chosen to use just a slice of the original pattern. Completely hand quilted in black thread using traditional patterns, including: circular feathered wreath, cable and feather border, pumpkin seeds, and square rosette. A ½” crosshatch fills all backgrounds. The edge is finished in a knife-edge technique, with front and back edges turned together and sewn. The piece has a hanging sleeve.
