32” x 27”Cotton fabrics, buttons, glass beads, vinyl & metal trim
Price: Sold “Created in commemoration of the fire which destroyed most of the Gaches Mansion’s third floor and attic, and the firefighters who prevented the Mansion’s total destruction on that fiery day in April 1973. Guardians of Gaches also commemorates all those who have worked and continue to work valiantly to protect and preserve this historic, iconic La Conner landmark, as well as the installation of a fire sprinkler system during the next round of renovations.”
The firemen were hand appliquéd onto a background sky fabric then set into a church window frame fabric with flame print reverse appliquéd into the lower windows and used as a top border. An added element is a vinyl and metal trim between the windows. Hand quilted with red, white, gold, and black threads, and finished with a black binding. This piece has a hanging sleeve.
