26” x 31.5”
Batiks, printed fabrics, tulle

Price: $295

“Still Life with Tulle represents an early personal innovation in using tulle for shading. Notice how layers of tulle were used in the tablecloth to create a gradation of values from front to back. I keep a supply of various light and dark shades of tulle on hand, and use it to accomplish slight shifts in value, either lighter or darker.”

A new technique for the artist multiple shades of tulle are layered to create depth in this piece. The depth is reinforced by the use of quilting lines on the tablecloth. The flowers and vase are machine sewn in a raw edge appliqué technique; once again the tulle is used to create shading. This piece in machine quilted in a free motion technique, hand guided by the artist. The central panel is enclosed with a ½” dark Batik print; multi print on two sides only; then a check print on three sides; followed with a binding. The piece has a hanging sleeve.
