Quilt Festival Workshops
Dates: Friday September 26 through Sunday September 28, 2008
Cost: One day workshops $75.00 each
Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM ( Lunch will be provided)
Your class fee includes free admission
to the Quilt & Textile Museum and the show in Maple Hall during the
Quilt Festival.

during business hours. We accept Visa or MasterCard, or you may
register
online.
Supply
lists will be mailed out upon receipt of your class fee.
Cancellations and full refunds will be given only until August 27, 2008.

This workshop will present an overview of how to transform one generic vest pattern into a wide variety of designs. The lecture/demonstration will cover such topics as weaving with sewing thread, recycling shoelaces, lining methods, making vests reversible, modular knitting and more. Everyone will receive a basic vest pattern, learn how to size it and will have the opportunity to try on a variety of vest styles with patterns available to copy. Additional hands-on activities will include photo transfer methods. Inspiration will be provided through books, ethnic examples and the instructor's collection of unique vests.

Mud Pies for Adults (or Fun Ways to Decorate Fabric and Paper)

This workshop is for anyone who likes to play but wants limited rules! Each participant will complete a reference notebook as they make small fabric and paper samples using paste paper, resists, fabric crayons, paint sticks, marbled tissue, foiling, burned felt, stamping and more. "Stations" of each technique will be availabe so that everyone has the fun of trying innovative ways to decorate cloth, wrapping paper, greeting cards, and journals. This is an introduction to your creativity along with an inspirational journal of ideas and instruction. This workshop is for all skill levels.
