Using basic to advanced techniques, this diagonal-gesture block unfolds at a relaxed pace. Begin simply by doing the main stems from a single swatch of cloth using a cut-away appliqué and needleturn. Knowing how easy it will be to finish the greenery, move on to the magical roses, gathering the petals by stitching a six-pointed star path. Pull gently and the stitched pattern forms a six-petaled rose. As we stitch, we’ll talk about the buds and print veined leaves, which dance among the graceful roses done with fine embroidery. Instructions for advance preparation will be provided on registration. The example block at left was appliquéd by Janice Vaine with ink embellishment by Elly Sienkiewicz.
