Permanent Collection

The permanent collection includes quilts and textiles that range in age from the 1820′s to the modern day.  Significant categories include the Jane Jackson Collection, the Susan Hyde Collection, the Josie Teeters Schlotterback Collection, and the Contemporary Collection.

 The “Schlotterback Quilt Collection” project

In 2012, the La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum embarked upon a journey to ”finish” twelve quilt tops gifted to the museum by Dr. Thomas Schlotterback.  The tops, which date from 1890-1930, have been unavailable for exhibit due to their unfinished states.  The project is funded in part by a generous grant from the Quilter’s Guild of Dallas Helena Hibbs Endowment Fund.  The end result of this project will be twelve quilts that have batting, backing, and hand-quilting or hand-tying (depending on the piece), and ultimately the exhibit of those pieces in a special show in 2014.  Three of the quilt tops are pictured below:
